CV and Resume: Not the same thing!!

Most of the applicants think that the terms resume and curriculum vitae can be used interchangeably. But, both the terms are having quite different meanings. It is good to understand the exact meaning of these words to effectively start reading this blog. Because the choice of proper word for your profile is always appreciated by the employers.  

Curriculum vitae: 
  • CV is the detail of all your relevant experience in reverse chronological order. 
  • The ideal length is two pages; nevertheless, the length can be three to five as per the requirement.    
  • Normally, CV is accompanied by a cover letter summarizing its contains and its relevance with job applied for.  


Resume:
  • A resume is a precise and brief document contains strictly relevant skills and experience necessary for that particular position.
  • Its standard length is one page. 
  • It highlights your skills and achievements above all things.
  • It is used for fast processing that’s why doesn’t accompany by a cover letter.

  4. Number of applicants at fresher level are usually more than experienced professionals in companies, therefore, they should use Resume to get faster processing. But, freshers should use CV while applying for higher study, scientific, or R&D positions.
    And, CV is most accepted form of job application all over the world for experienced professionals. It is followed by a cover letter.
